Masquerade

Those who know me know I love to go to costume parties. Since there aren't that many mostly I host them. However, this year there was a Winter Masquerade Ball held last weekend at the Provo Historic County Building. And it was for charity so who could beat that.

These are the costumes that Court and I designed. We used them last year for the mask that we throw and thought this would be a great way to use them again. I love the idea of being completely black and white. Court wanted to add some color -blue and orange of course. So I told him he had to use at least some of my fabric so we matched. If you look really close (maybe you can't see it) but he is wearing a Denver Bronco tie.

This is the clan that I talked into going with me. Brooke and Mikey of course, Court, me, and then our friends Brian and Erin.

Court is going to kill me but I can't help but share this pictures of him dancing. He is such a cutie.

Imitation

The older Isabel gets the more I realize how carefully she watches everything I do. The other day she took my little tub of carmex rubbed her finger on the lid and put it in her mouth. I have only started using it this month because of the cold weather. In addition, anytime I am getting ready for the day she has to be right there imitating me. She will grab a hairbrush (hers or an extra one of mine) to copy me. And then when it is time to put on a bit of makeup she will fuss until I give her a makeup brush that is clean to practice putting on her blush. It is just the cutest thing. She is too young for all of this.

President Hinckley

Just a quick note about our beloved prophet who passed away last night. He was an amazing man and one of great importance to me as he was the one who signed my mission papers so long ago. That was within his first year as prophet. How far the church as come in that time. And what a great loss for us. My sadness however is overshadowed by the joy that I feel when I think of him being reunited with his wonderful wife. What a glorious reunion that must have been.

Playing dress up

I always figured when it came time for Isabel to play dress up it would be in my clothes. Nope.

The other day I was sorting laundry and Isabel grabbed one of Daddy's shirts. She won't let go. And got mad when I took it back. We went back into the living room and I turned around and she was gone. She came back seconds later holding two of Daddy's shirts just as Court came home from lunch. For the next five minutes all she did was whine and try to put them on by wrapping them around her arms.

Finally Daddy gave in. In the picture you will notice she is wearing two shirts. A green t-shirt and blue button up one. She wore them through all of lunch and I had to bribe her with a Binky to get her to let me take them off for nap time.

You know you are a mom when......

you pray for your child's bowel movements.

I know I know gross. But Isabel hasn't been feeling well and has been constipated. Which of course is painful for a small girl. So last night I caught myself praying for her bowel movements. It took everything that I had not to laugh through the rest of the prayer.

An encounter with dog food

Isabel loves to pet the dog. But Merlynn always licks her. So Isabel learned that when Merlynn gets fed she is more interested in the food then her. So Isabel loves to pet Merlynn while she eats.

The other day we were playing and Mikey came up to fed the dog, Isabel ran over to them. I figure ok this is normally. So I was a bit surprised when Mikey asked me what Isabel was eating. I go over and she has a huge amount of dog food in her mouth. As I am taking it out she is screaming at me. What a great mother I am, she is hungry and had to resort to eating dog food. You should have seen what she ate after I cleaned her up and put her in the highchair.

What I can't figure out is how she got the dog food from Merlynn in the first place. Merlynn is normally very protective when it comes to her food. Maybe Merlynn was willing to share since Isabel gives her so much of her own food. Oh well, guess I will have to watch the two of them more carefully.

Moab Rocks!

I hope everyone had a great holiday season. Thought I would post this family picture from Christmas. If you look really close you will notice that Court's Santa hat is actually blue and orange and says the Broncos. What a die hard fan even at Christmas.

Happy New Year all.

As a family we go jeeping ever year between Christmas and New Years in Moab. This was Isabel's first time. She felt right at home. Dancing in the car seat as we were climbing the rocks. And at one point the swaying of the jeep even put her to sleep. Here is she is behind the wheel at one of the stops on the trail.

I just love this shirt. There is this T-shirt shop in Moab where you can get them to put different designs on the shirts. Last year they were closed so when we noticed they were open the first day we were there we stopped in. I just had to get this shirt for Isabel. However, as much as I tried I could not get her to look up when taking the photo. What a stinker she is. But a cute one.
