Horses, horses and more horses

Wow I can't believe how fast this summer has flown by. If I would have to pick a common theme for it, I would say it was horses. At least for Izzy. She loves horses. Here are few pictures of her this summer.
This is the horse that Grandma Sylvia gave her at the beginning of the summer. She has named her princess horsey. Princess Horsey has to sleep right next to Izzy's bed so that Izzy can hold on to her as she goes to sleep.

This is so precious. Izzy decided her horse needed a bath. So she is cleaning her with Ean's washcloths. And just today she was her room with a broom to clean the stable. (too bad I didn't get a picture).

On to the outdoor outings. Here she is at Wheeler Farm with grandpa. One of her favorite places to go. She loves to go and see the animals. Of course she always stops by the horse to feed them carrots.

And then to Gardner village to ride the ponies. We don't take her here very often because she could spend hours riding it is like $3.00 for like 5 minutes. Not bad until she insists on riding each of the 5 ponies they have or just "one more time ok guys". It has been fun to see her love for these great animals increase. In fact, she keeps telling dad she needs a horse in her backyard. Luckily for us there are several places close by where we can take her to see them.

Oink! Oink!

For those of you who didn't know Court had the swine flu. It is quite funny actually to see everyone's reaction. He started to come down with what I thought was a cold but it won't go away and then the fever came. So he went to the doctor - he was in and out faster then I have ever seen. He said the doc did the exam and while washing his hands several times informed him it was too far along to do an actual test but that he indeed had the swine flu. And of course to stay home until the symptoms went way. So when he called in work and told them he would be working from home for a couple of days his boss told him to stay home at least a week if not longer. People from all over the company were skping him and asking him about it and if was going to die. Can you believe that? When we called people in the ward to tell them about it and that he won't be at church at first they didn't beleive him then they started to make jokes.

Potty Training

Oh, the joy of potty training. We had started teaching Izzy about the potty before Ean was born. Mainly to get her use to it. We didn't want to make any huge life changes right before. But she was doing really well; that is until we brought home a baby in diapers. So she decided that since the baby was in diapers she would be too. And with all the craziness of having a newborn in the house we didn't focus too much on it. Well, in the last month she has started to show interest. So we started to introduce it to her once again. And then I decided we were done with the introduction and went full force. It took a week of staying home and hangout in big girl panties (which worked out great because it was the same week Court got the swine flu and couldn't go anywhere). But we did it. She is so proud of herself that she wants to show everyone her big girl panties and has to announce when she has just gone the potty. Maybe we made it too much of a big deal but I am proud of my little girl. Now just think of all the $ we are saving on diapers. Hooray!

My growing boy

My cute little boy - 4 months

Ean went to the doctors this week for his 4 month check up. He is a little over 16 lbs. He is a lb away from doubling his birth weight - that is just crazy. He is also 26 inches tall. It amazes me how fast they grow up. He just isn't little anymore not that he ever really was. He has been rolling over for the last 2 weeks. Ean wants to crawl so bad that you find him spin around in circles on his stomach. Of course he puts everything in his mouth and we have started him on cereal. Not sure what he is thinking about on that. Isabel just wants to feed him whatever we are having so Court and I have to keep an even closer eye on her.

Izzy wants so badly for him to be able to do what she does. She really likes it when I stand him up so he can dance with her. Or when they lay on our bed together under the covers. She just says over and over again "Ean like me." I hope that she doesn't mind so much him "wanting to be like her" when she gets older.

My silly little girl

Here are few pictures of my favorite girl. And her silliness - I love it.

It has been raining like crazy in Utah the last couple of weeks, and one of Izzy's favorite things to do is play in the rain. So here is she is in her raincoat, boots and who could forget the sunglasses.

Isabel is obsessed with birthdays. Mostly hers. She says my birthday is ____ and then fills in the blank with whatever day of the week she thinks of first. And the month of May didn't help. We celebrated two birthdays and mother's day all in a week. Luckily, she has her half birthday in May. Last year, we started a tradition in which we celebrate half birthdays with cupcakes. So here is Izzy decorating them.

Well this is Isabel's new sleeping arrangements for last month. One night she told me she wanted to sleep on the floor. I asked her why she didn't want to sleep in her bed and she said it was yucky (her new favorite word). It doesn't whether it is nap or bedtime she wants to sleep on the floor. We have tried a number of things, but she prefers the floor. The other night she fill asleep downstairs, so we thought great chance to put her in her bed. Nope, once Court put her in bed she woke up long enough to tell him to put her on the floor. I have know idea why she doesn't like her bed.

Feeling a bit spoiled

So my birthday was last month. I got a nice used Nikon camera from my adopted mom. The family pitched in and got me accessories to go with it. I am just excited that I will be able to take pictures of my kids without missing the shot. My old camera took so long between takes that I missed so much. It is so fancy, I have much to learn.

Speaking of learning new things, Court got me a piano. Our neighbor was moving and didn't want to take the piano with her, so we got it at a great price (thanks Sue). Here is a picture of my new friend.

For those of you who are wondering, no I don't play. At least not until a couple of weeks ago. I have started taking piano lessons. It is something I have always wanted to do and now I get the chance. Right now I can play Old McDonald, Merrily We Roll Along, and Yankee Doodle. As you can guess Izzy loves it. If you look to the right of the piano there is an old keyboard we pulled out storage for Izzy to play on while I practice. She loves rocking out on it. Hopefully, she will be as excited to play in a few years when she starting piano lessons herself.

A blessing - in more ways then one

Ean was blessed in church last Sunday. We were very lucky that many family and friends were able to join us. It was a very special day and we want to thank all those who came in support of our little one. He truly is a great blessing in our lives. And such a cutie.

My boy in his cute little outfit. Can I just say it was such a pain to find something that I liked. First of all they don't have very many outfits to choose from for boys. And second, most of them look really girly. From silk to crochet outfits. This one even came with a bonnet. Why would you put your boy in a little suit outfit with bowtie and everything and also a bonnet. I just don't get it. But whatever.

We even had our first real moment of jealous that day. Isabel did really good at first especially since all the attention was on Ean as to be expected. But then I took him in room to get some pictures of him in the outfit before changing him. She of course wanted to be in the picture so I accommodated her for a few. But when I asked her to get up, she gave me attitude. And then as I helped lead her out of the room she grabbed on to Ean and scratched his face (see picture below). She felt so bad once she realized what she had done and spend the rest of the night saying sorry to everyone for hurting Ean.

I am just glad that I got some good pictures of his outfit and the ones with all the grandparents prior to her having her issues. Oh the joys of a 2 year old.

Izzy's new skateboard

Earlier this week Izzy came to get me and wanted me to come see her new skateboard. I went in the living room and this is what I saw....

What an imagination!

Update on Ean

We took Ean in yesterday for his 2 month check up. He weighs 13 lbs 7 oz and is 23 1/2 inches long. Can you believe how fast he is growing? He doesn't look much like a newborn anymore not that he really did to start off. He is such a cutie.

His favorite place in the whole house is his changing table. Yes, I know how odd, right? Well no matter how fussy he gets if I lay him down on the changing table he stares and coos at that picture above his head. Court says he is trying to prepare me for the fact that he will play basketball (i hate the sport). Me I just think he wants to talk to some kids his age.

my little mommy

It is so cute to watch Izzy play mommy. Which has increased quite a bit since I have had Ean.

She decided that Patty needed to swing.

Whenever Court feeds Ean, Isabel runs to her room to grab her baby and a bottle. And of course she has to sit right next to daddy while feeding her baby. She is such a good mommy.

Ean's first visit to the zoo

The zoo is a big deal at our house. Izzy loves animals so much that we got a membership because she wants to go so often. (In fact that is where she is right now with grandpa.)

Izzy has the place memorized by heart and loves to lead the way. And of course she has to have the map in order to do that. It is the first thing she grabs as we walk in the park.

So we decided it was time that Ean meet some of the animals. Although he did sleep through most of the park, he was awake for a few minutes. (He is 5 weeks in these pictures.)

Court and Izzy were very excited because this tiger was very active the day we went.

And no trip would be complete without a ride on the train. Izzy was very excited to take her brother on the train with her. Well - Ean we hope you enjoyed the zoo because you will be back often.

like father like daughter

Izzy loves to play dress up mostly with Courts stuff. On any given day she will have his belt wrapped around her waist. This was a couple of Sundays ago right after church. Court came home and took of his tie and shoes in the living room and next thing you know Izzy has them on. Then she asked Daddy to take a picture.

Court works from home on Tuesdays. Normally he works in the office downstairs but with me recovering from the c-section, the first couple of weeks he worked upstairs to help out. Of course this meant he didn't get as much done. As you can tell from the picture the main reason is because Izzy wanted to "work". He ended up getting her a used laptop and mouse from grandmas for her to work when he stays home.
Doesn't she just look so cute. One day she will realize that work is just not that much fun.

Baby Ean

Izzy is crazy about her baby brother. Or Baby Ean as she calls him. Yesterday she spent most of church showing off her brother to anyone that would listen. She is so proud.

She loves to be next to him as much as possible. Whether he is being feed, sleeping or on tummy time she has to be right there. She even holds his hand as he gets his diaper changes as if he needs the support or something. The minute he starts to cry she runs to him and even tries to give him the binky. Her first question after waking up from a nap is always "where is baby Ean?" I have been waiting for the newest to wear off but so far she is fascinated by him.

Luckily we haven't really had any moments of jealous except one. We pulled out the old bouncer we used with Isabel from storage and tried to put Ean in it. Isabel got mad and said it was hers all night long (as if she could remember that). She told us he needed his own. So Daddy took her to the store and she got to pick out a new bouncer for Ean. Throughout the store she kept telling Dad that this was Ean's chair and hers was at home. As you can see from the picture one of her favorite things to do is sit in her bouncer next to him.

Isn't it the offseason?

I let Court dress the kids in whatever he wants on Saturday. And it is almost always Broncos. They probably both have enough bronco outfits to wear for an entire week. Talk about obession.

I have to admit they do look so cute!

Cabin Fever

Can I tell you that I have had the worse case of cabin fever. I guess it won't be so bad if I wasn't on bedrest for 6 weeks before Ean was born. So except for doctors appointments and church I haven't been able to do much of anything for the last 9-10 weeks. I am happy to say that I am recovering well from my c-section and am actually ready to get back to a regular schedule. However, now that I can get out of the house and overcome this cabin fever Izzy has come down with a nasty cold. grrrr.... Here is hoping it doesn't last very long....

2 weeks and counting

I am happy to say that we have 2 weeks until the arrival of Ean and we are ready. Room is organized, clothes washed up and we have even started a diaper collection. It feels really good to know that we are prepared for him to join our little family. Much of that is due to Court since I basically sat in the room going through clothes while telling him what needed to be done. Thanks Court you are best.

For those of you that have seen the nursery before, there are a few notable changes to make it look a bit more boyish.

Court came up with the new quote. It fits nicely with the Noah's ark theme.
Of course we needed new bedding, we gotta spoil our little boy. Court picked out this blue and green camouflage pattern.
Court purchased this picture when I was pregnant with Izzy and wanted to put it up when she was in the nursery but it was just too boyish. So he was very excited to hang it up over the pink flamingos.

I decided that Izzy's white dresser was just a bit boring and the decorative handles a little odd for a boys room. So we took some wood animal figures and I hot glued them to the dresser. I love the finished project; it turned out better then I had expected.

Mommy, I love books

Izzy's new favorite thing to say is 'I love books'. It is so cute to see her excitement for books. She walks around singing it or saying it as often as she can. No matter where we go she has to bring one of her favorites with her. The other day she was so quiet I started to wonder where she went. When I found her, she was laying on the couch reading a book. Nothing out of the ordinary until I got closer and noticed Maggie (our lab) was laying on the other side of the couch with the phone book opened up next to her. I asked Izzy want she was doing and she said 'Maggie and I are reading'. Too funny.

I sure hope she carries this love of books with her the rest of her life.

Izzy's new room

Well we have finally got Izzy moved into her new room. This has been a three month process. We had hoped to have her in by the first of January but bed rest slowed us down. It turned out wonderful and I really think she likes it. Izzy's favorite thing now is showing off her new room.

Of course she had to help paint so we put on some old clothes of hers so she could help daddy with the base coat. I heard "Izzy paint" dozens of times that week.

My brother Mikey came down right before Christmas and did all the detail work in the room. It is really amazing. He always does such a great job. And of course Izzy had to help. Uncle Mikey was very patient with her as she helped.

Here are some finished pictures of the room. They just don't quite do the room justice. But it is the best we can do.

Here is a picture as you enter the room.

This picture didn't turn out as well but I think that is because of the light from the window coming in. The window treatment is a bunch of ribbons strung on a rod. I really liked how it turned out.

The best part of the room is the size of it. I was able to move all her really big toys into it. Like her kitchen which has been in the dining area of the house. Less clutter for the rest of the house. Hooray!

Now on to getting the baby's room up and ready for his arrival.

Update on the baby

On Wednesday I went in for another ultrasound. This time to see how the baby's growth is coming along. He is measuring at about 7 lbs 4 oz. (Of course since we are this late in the game, the measurements can be off as much as 1 lb in either direction - so he weights between 6-8 lbs). Craziness I tell you. And I still have 5 weeks left if you can believe that.

Overall they are happy with the growth and development of the baby since Hypertension normally causes a low birth rate. They did increase my non-stress tests to twice a week to keep a closer on eyes on the baby. Of course I am not going to complain as I get to see and hear him twice as often now.

We are doing and are excited to meet our new addition.

Bed rest with a 2 year old

Ok, so some of you have been wondering where I have been. Well, at home resting of course. The doctor put me on bed rest. In her words: "I am putting you on bed rest meaning off your feet as much as you can with a 2 year old. " I have a bit of hypertension so they are being careful especially since I had the same thing with Izzy and it tends to get worse in subsequent pregnancies.

No worries. You will be happy to know that the bed rest seems to be working as my blood pressure has decreased greatly. I am also very lucky to have a very supportive and bossy husband.

The best part of bed rest: chilling with my daughter. I get to sit and watch Disney and color with Izzy most of the day. She has been very attentive and loves to cuddle lately. I get the feeling that she knows things are going to change soon.

The worse part: not being able to do housework. Don't get me wrong it isn't my favorite thing but I also don't like a messy/disorganized house. Court has been a great help with the everyday chores and I guess everything else will just have to wait a couple of months.
